Choosing a Therapist
Finding the Right Fit
Therapy is most helpful when there is a good match between what you are looking for, what I offer, and the level of care you need.
I work best with people who are curious about themselves and interested in understanding not only what they are struggling with, but why certain patterns keep repeating. Many of my clients are thoughtful and self-aware, but still feel stuck in anxiety, shame, relationship pain, compulsive patterns, or old ways of coping.

My style may be a good fit if:
You are looking for therapy that is thoughtful, relational, and depth-oriented. My work is influenced by psychoanalytic and psychodynamic therapy, which means we pay attention to patterns, emotions, relationships, early experiences, defenses, and the parts of you that may be harder to understand at first.
This does not mean we only talk about the past.
It means we look at how the past may still be alive in the present — in your relationships, anxiety, body, choices, coping strategies, and the way you relate to yourself. This moves into how you want to relate to yourself now and, slowly, a new way of relating to yourself and others. When another provider may be a better fit:
There are some situations where another provider or a higher level of care may be more appropriate. I am not the best fit for detox, court-mandated substance use treatment, intensive eating disorder treatment, ERP-only OCD treatment, severe treatment-resistant depression, active intimate partner violence perpetration, or sexual offending concerns.
If it seems like you need more specialized or intensive support, I will be transparent about that and can help you think through referrals.
Not sure?
If you are unsure whether this is the right fit, you are welcome to reach out for a consultation. We can talk through what you are looking for and whether my practice feels like an appropriate place to begin.
