Common Questions
-
A. Yes, I accept Aetna, Cigna, and United via Alma. If you’d like to seek reimbursement through your plan’s out-of-network benefits for a different insurance (BCBS for example), a monthly superbill will be offered as an invoice for submission to your provider. Please check with your insurance to explore the out-of-network benefits of your plan.
-
A. All practitioners work differently but I prefer seeing my clients weekly. Consistency in any practice, whether it be physical, mental, or emotional, is essential for growth.
-
I require that clients give 24 hours notice in advance if they cannot make their regularly scheduled appointment. Otherwise you will be charged the full session fee regardless of whether you use insurance or not.
-
A. No, I do not, though this can sometimes be a helpful addition to the work. If it appears that an evaluation for psychotropic medication could be useful, I will refer you to a Psychiatrist or Nurse Practitioner who can further evaluate and discuss options with you alongside our care.
-
All of the scheduling and billing is handled through the Simple Practice client portal or Alma portal (insurance clients only). You can pay electronically with a debit, credit, or HSA card that is linked to your portal. Via the portal, you will receive appointment reminders, payment receipts, super bills and any other relevant documentation.
-
I offer sessions via Telehealth and in-person (South/Central Austin) on Mondays- Thursdays. I offer virtual sessions for clients residing in Texas only. I use a safe and confidential platform for my electronic sessions. You will receive a different link prior to each session. I do ask that you find a quiet location, away from others, for your sessions.
-
Please reach out via the contact form and I will email you to set up a time to have a 15 minute consultation call. During this call we will go over why you are reaching out for services at this time, answer any questions you may have, and go from there.

Psychoanalytic therapy focuses on understanding the patterns beneath your symptoms rather than just managing them. We explore how your past, particularly your early relationships, shapes the way you think, feel, and relate to others now. It is slower and deeper than approaches focused on quick fixes, and it tends to create lasting change because we are addressing root causes rather than surface behaviors.
-
Yes. Anxiety is one of my primary specialties. I work with generalized anxiety, social anxiety, health anxiety, and the kind of low-grade dread that does not have a name but never quite goes away. I am also trained in treating OCD, which is often misdiagnosed as general anxiety.
-
We meet weekly, either in person in Austin or via telehealth if you are anywhere in Texas. Sessions are 50 minutes. I do not assign much homework. Instead, we use our time together to slow down, get curious about what is happening beneath the surface, and pay attention to what shows up between us in the room. Over time, patterns emerge and shift.
-
Fit matters more than technique. You want someone you feel comfortable being honest with, even when it is hard. I recommend talking to a few therapists before deciding. Pay attention to how you feel in your body during the consultation. Do you feel seen? Do you feel like you could eventually trust this person with the harder stuff?
-
The first session is about getting to know each other. I will ask about what brought you to therapy, your history, and what you are hoping for. You can share as much or as little as feels comfortable. By the end, we will talk about whether it feels like a good fit and what the path forward might look like.
-
The truth is, sometimes it takes awhile to notice. The path is often up and down because healing is not linear. In my experience, with time, you might notice you are less reactive, more aware of your patterns, or more able to tolerate discomfort without immediately trying to fix it. Sometimes people around you notice changes before you do. Progress looks different for everyone and we will check in about this regularly.

Your Right to a Good Faith Estimate
You have the right to receive a "Good Faith Estimate" explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don't have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for services, including psychotherapy. You can ask your health care provider for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service, or at any time during treatment. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy of your Good Faith Estimate.
For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
